Preparing for your Permanent Makeup Appointment

There are specific guidelines to follow in the days leading up to your permanent makeup appointment. These guidelines are designed to ensure optimal results and minimize any potential complications.

Here are the pre-procedure instructions:

a) Avoid Tweezing, Waxing, Threading, or Electrolysis: Refrain from removing hair from the treatment area for at least one week before the procedure.

b) Sun Protection: Protect your skin from excessive sun exposure or sunburns for at least 10 days before your appointment. Sunburned or damaged skin can affect the outcome of the procedure.

c) Facial Treatments: Avoid any facial treatments, such as chemical peels or microdermabrasion, for at least two weeks prior to your session. These treatments can increase skin sensitivity and interfere with the application of permanent makeup.

d) Fitness and Exercise: It's advisable to avoid intense workouts on the day of the procedure, as well as for 10 days afterwards. Sweating can interfere with the pigment's absorption and retention.

Proper Skincare Routine

In the weeks leading up to your permanent makeup appointment, maintain a consistent and gentle skincare routine. Keep your skin clean, hydrated, and healthy. Avoid using harsh exfoliants, strong retinol products, or other abrasive substances that could irritate or sensitize the treatment area.

Alcohol and Caffeine: Refrain from consuming alcohol 24 hours before your tattoo appointment. Additionally, avoid consuming coffee or any caffeinated beverages on the day of the procedure, as these substances can increase sensitivity and cause more bleeding, which can affect your results.

Pain Relief Medication: To minimize the risk of excessive bleeding and promote better pigment retention, avoid taking aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief before your appointment.

Preparation is the foundation for achieving outstanding results with permanent makeup. By following these essential steps, conducting thorough research, and adhering to your artist's instructions, you'll be well on your way to enjoying the benefits of flawlessly applied permanent makeup. Remember, the investment of time and effort in preparing properly will pay off in the form of long-lasting, confidence-boosting enhancements.
